About Antoinette Tuff

On August 20, 2013, Antoinette's extraordinary human drama of a school under siege, grabbed headlines around the world. "Everything I had done in my life up to this point, prepared me for this moment. Being alone with a gunman, his 500 rounds of ammunition and an angry promise to kill everyone, including himself, with his automatic weapon, an AK-47; seemed unbelievable." Antoinette's life hasn't been the same since talking the gunman into surrendering that day.

Antoinette has appeared with CNN's Anderson Cooper numerous times and was featured on CNN's annual Heroes special. She has visited with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Antoinette has met with global business and political leaders to tell her story and share her wisdom on how to use judgment in crisis and not just pass judgment in a heated moment. She also has started our non-profit organization, Kids on the Move for Success.

Prepared For A Purpose

Antoinette Tuff's courage and faith prevented tragedy in a school under siege. 870 children waited in fear as their elementary school rushed into lockdown mode. As the nation faced yet another Sandy Hook story of tragedy, one woman rewrote the ending.

Yet the story doesn't start with those first steps Michael Hill took into that Atlanta elementary school. It starts with Antoinette Tuff, a woman who faced her own pain, hurt, and rejection, yet held onto grace, faith, and hope. A hope that anchored her in the most high-stakes moments, a grace that allowed her to empathize with a hurting young man, and a faith that gave her the courage to love him back from the brink

This is more than just the amazing account of tragedy averted. It's the evidence of what we can do when we allow ourselves to be used by God. And it's a story of how God uses all of our life experiences, the good and the bad, to prepare us for our own moment of divine purpose.

Antoinette Speaks Out

In the midst of another school shooting, the Atlanta crisis did not have the tragic ending it could have. Antoinette Tuff, being a faith based woman, found the inner strength and confidence to confront her captor and gunman "in the moment," saving more than 1,000 lives. Since that day, Antoinette has been invited to speak at various corporate events. During her presentations, Antoinette shares how she "chose" to use judgment, not pass judgment, when confronted with a life-threatening situation.

She encourages everyone of us to be prepared to meet our purpose when the time comes. The tools Antoinette used that day are some of the same tools we all are called to use in the corporate world and when dealing with disturbed employees, angry customers, or business pressures that drive people to the brink. Antoinette shares her inspirational and practical message on why and how, as she told the gunman on that fateful day, "everything will be all right!"
